The curriculum uses a storytelling learning approach to teach English language and promote conflict transformation principles through two English classes and one recreational activity session each week, for a six-month course. Children are taught conflict transformation skills by being guided through problems and asked to determine what solution is the most appropriate, whilst also learning English at the same time.

The main objectives for Level 1:

  • Introduce children to basic life skills concepts such as self-esteem, sharing, diversity, friendship, acceptance of differences and non-violent attitudes towards the other and the community.

  • For children to develop a set of values of behaviour together through a variety of interactive and participatory exercises.
