Mireille Abi Khalil

Special Educator, Project Management, Inspiring Leadership, Teaching Adult Learners,

At a very early age, Mireille developed interest in exploring new horizons. She got enthusiastic about learning and unlearning things, and constantly challenged herself to embrace new learning experiences. She relied heavily on her senses to do that. This skill was not asset she used at school, but helped her in her life and work.

As a Special Educator, she assists individuals with diverse needs to own their learning process and become independent. She helps them to appreciate what they can do, rather than focusing on what they cannot achieve. For years, she promoted equality in her community. She believed that people must be treated the same way. Her work as a Special Educator made her realize the importance of equity. She understood that each one of us is unique and has diverse abilities. Providing equal support does not ensure fairness. On the other hand, a differentiated approach is an efficient pathway to fairness. This shift in her mindset prepared her for her career with civil society organizations, as learning is life.

Through her life journey, Mireille earned certifications in project management, inspiring leadership, and teaching adult learners. She worked with different educational institutions, including the Lebanese University, private schools, rehabilitation facilities for adolescents at social risks, and with national and international non-profit organizations. She was responsible for coordinating educational services, facilitating workshops, managing departments, leading teams, designing educational and recreational curriculum, and providing consultancy services.
